The Portrait

 Her life was empty
With no one to love
years of misuse, bruised  her heart.
In the mist that scarred her mind
An emptiness laid inside.
The outer mask of worthlessness
Revealed  itself in her damaged portrait.

But soft brown eyes captured  her pride
and with a gentle touch,  kindness
 became  the healing balm
 that smooth away the  hollowness.

Love peeled away the mask
that revealed a portrait
of  her heart
that's a lovely work  of art.
